We’re back

We’re back from the Summer holidays. During the Summer Spotify Netherlands did put our new song, ‘Bite my Tongue,’ the collab with Dizzy Panda, on the Release Radar, which let our streams and, more important, our number of listeners rise up significantly, to more than 720 listeners in one month. The Summer is almost over now, so our numbers are declining again, which is normal a few months after the release. We’re in the rehearsal room again, working on brand new songs. And there are a few quite interesting songs we’re working on. One of them is an elaboration of one of our improvised pieces during our most recent impro livestream concert. Also, we’re working on a new music video of our Senta song! That video will be ready in a few months. On top of that we give a few concerts again in September and October.

New EP released Today!

Exciting news: Today, on the 14th of July we released a new EP on all common music platforms (such as Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Amazon, etc.) It’s a very special project, because our colleagues from Dizzy Panda asked us to remix/remake one of our songs and we did the same with one of theirs. They chose our original Glastonbury Grove song and made a complete new version of it. We chose their Bite my Tongue song and made a remake-duet, with their singer Ntll and our singer Petra. The melancholic triphop ballad got a cinematic atmosphere. Curious? You can listen to the new versions on Spotify here.

How come? Chabliz and Dizzy Panda both reached the Snob 2000 in December 2022; Dizzy Panda on position 1124 and Chabliz nearby on position 1122 (with New Dawn Fades). That’s how we discovered eachother.

Already several music journalists wrote about our new collab-EP. One of them is the Cool Top 20. (in English). And they placed our song on their New Music Friday playlist on Spotify. (edit 18/7). Also The Alternatieve Muziekman wrote about this new EP (in Dutch, and he added our music video -made by Dizzy Panda, they did a great job with that-). We already gave a few interviews too. And we just entered the Indie Advice List of Indie XL’s Free40 alternative charts!

Edit (15/7): Also, Ondergewaardeerde Liedjes (themselves!) published this interview by Willem Kamps, with Dizzy Panda and us. And Altfm published this article today, and played the song on the radio. And Maxazine followed later today with this in-depth interview with our singer Petra about the new EP and Chabliz in general.

Edit 18/7: Pinguin Radio published an article about our new EP in their Daily Digest and here on their Magazine. Nice!

Edit 19/7: Radio De Schans and Pinguin Radio played and promoted our new collab EP. Thanks! 🙂

Edit 22/7: The German music blogger KMS Reviews published this beautiful review of our new EP. And he did put our song on this Spotify playlist. Great!

You can find the music video of our new version of ‘Bite my Tongue’ here:

And this is the remake of our Glastonbury Grove song by Dizzy Panda:

AND in August we’re going to shoot a new music video! The video release is expected this autumn.

And there is more. Last Sunday we gave live concerts on the Gluren bij de Buren garden Festival in Wageningen, with a good atmosphere, a great audience and beautiful weather. You can watch a few pictures here. Two weeks earlier we gave a free, fully improvised Livestream Concert. You can rewatch that impro concert here. If you don’t have much time, we recommend you to watch the (better) second half of this livestream concert.

AND in August we’re going to shoot a new music video! The video release is expected this autumn.

If you have Spotify, don’t forget to pre-save the new EP here.

Concerts and a new EP

Just confirmed: Chabliz plays live on the Gluren bij de Buren Festival in Wageningen, on Sunday afternoon, the 2nd of July. It would be great to meet you there! Free entry.

People who can’t see us live will have a chance to watch our free livestream Impro concert on Sunday evening June 18th. Our Impro concert last March was interesting enough to give another, completely improvised concert again. Of course it’s also possible to watch all concerts, for the Impro livestream will be quite different from the live concerts in Wageningen, where we’ll play our usual repertoire, with songs from our four released albums, including the new Heroes and Foes album.

And there is more. Perhaps you already know that we’re working on a remake of a song, originally written and recorded by Dizzy Panda. They do a remix of one of our songs and we do the same with one of theirs. An interesting cooperation! The twin-single release is expected this summer.

We’ll also work on a new music video of one of the songs of our new album. More about that later…

New concert, review, single release and a music video

Our new album received a beautiful 4,5 star review by Jan Didden on Festivalinfo last month, and of course we’re quite pleased with that. It’s a review in Dutch.

And on Sunday evening, the 18th of June we’ll give a very special, free Livestream Impro concert.  Our Impro concert last March was interesting enough to give another, completely improvised concert again!

One of our more jazzy songs has been added to a new Spotify playlist now, with Dutch women in Jazz. As you know our songs vary from indie/ alternative artpop and pop-noir to (gothic-)jazz and rock, but it’s nice to be on this playlist too!

New review and a special livestream concert

Our new album received a beautiful 4,5 star review by Jan Didden on Festivalinfo yesterday, and of course we’re quite pleased with that. It’s a review in Dutch.

And on Sunday evening, March the 19th we’ll give a very special, free Livestream concert. This time we’ll do it slightly different: you will be able to give us a key in the live chat. We will have a look and improvise in that key. This time we’ll only play one song of our usual repertoire. The rest of the set will be completely improvised!

One of our more jazzy songs has been added to a new Spotify playlist now, with Dutch women in Jazz. As you know our songs vary from indie/ alternative artpop and pop-noir to (gothic-)jazz and rock, but it’s nice to be on this playlist too!

Extra Special Concert and a new cooperation

Good news; on March the 19th we’ll give a very special, free Livestream concert. This time we’ll do it slightly different: you will be able to give us a key in the live chat. We will have a look and improvise in that key. This time we’ll only play one song of our usual repertoire. The rest of the set will be completely improvised!

And there is more. We’re working on a song, written and recorded by Dizzy Panda. They do a remix of one of our songs and we do the the same with one of theirs. An interesting cooperation! And are you curious about the pictures of our live concert in February? You can find them here. Or are you curious about our new album? You can find it here. And this is what reviewers write about it.

Concerts & reviews

In January we discovered a review (by ‘De Muziekplank’) that we didn’t mention before, although it was the very first review that we actually received about our new album (yes, we’re near-sighted moles). It’s a good review in Dutch and you can find it here. We’ll give more concerts, the first live concerts that we’ll give take place on the Gluren bij de Buren Festival in Gouda, on Sunday afternoon, February the fifth. We’ll give three short concerts of 30 minutes each during that afternoon. Free entry, and we would love to meet you there!

In March we’ll give a very special livestream concert again; this time we’ll improvise live on a few chords, given by the audience, and we’ll use extra synths and sounds. We’re working on more concerts too, so keep an eye on our concert dates!

In the mean time, more radio stations play our songs. One of them is Alternative FM. Also Pinguin Radio and Radio 5 played our songs lately.

We wish you a happy 2023!

We wish you a beautiful and healthy 2023! This year started well for us with a good review in the ‘Muziekwereld,’ a Dutch printed music magazine. Also, we reached our highest position ever in the yearly Snob 2000 with our Nightporter song, which reached position 300 in the last days of December. This year we entered the Snob 2000 with three songs; our newest entry is New Dawn Fades, which reached position 1122, and the other entry (Moon) reached position 862. And that’s all thanks to your votes for our songs. Thank you very much for that!

2022 was an interesting year for all of us. The year started with corona, our singer was in isolation in the study room for two weeks because she had corona, just like many others. Nevertheless we gave a zoom interview with all three bandmembers to Flo from KMS reviews. Our just released New Dawn Fades song entered the Dutch Indie Advice List and the Top 40 of For the love of music. We also reached the nineth position of Pinguin radio’s Streamsonic event on ESNS. It became February and the war in Ukraine started, and together with that a new cold war and inflation in Europe. But life goes on and musicians will always make music. We gave concerts on festivals (Gluren bij de Buren, Gouda Leeft and the Knapsack Festival) and also several Livestream Concerts, one of them on Composers Day. In the mean time we worked hard on our new album. In May was the release party of the beautiful ‘Cancelled’ book, a book with pictures of and interviews with Dutch artists like Francis van Broekhuizen, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Michael Varekamp, Simone Kleinsma, Karin Bloemen and many more. And us.

During the summer holidays something bad happened; our albums were removed from Spotify, Apple Music and several other platforms because our old aggregator was shut down, taking innocent bands with them in their decline. We had to put them all over again on the platforms with a new agregator and were silenced for more than a month because of this mismanagement by a company. Luckily we were back on the platfoms after five weeks of silence. October however was a great month for us, our brand new album Heroes and Foes was released, both physical (as a good old CD) as on the music platforms like Spotify, Apple music, Bandcamp and all the others. We celebrated our new album with a well-visited live album release concert in the beautiful Barthkapel in the centre of The Hague. We were surprised that so many people bought the physical CD, but perhaps that was also because of the beautiful artwork by David Gosker and Kalipluche. Last summer we also recorded a beautiful live string trio for our single Wings of the Night, which we released in December. This single was played a.o. on Pinguin Pluche and KRO-NCRV’s Volgspot Radio, with a radio interview. In December we also gave an interview to the Dutch AD newspaper and a Livestream concert for the people (abroad and in Holland) who missed our albumrelease concert. During the last months of 2022 we also received several beautiful album reviews.

In 2023 we work on new songs and music videos. Actually we already wrote a few new songs, which aren’t recorded yet. In February we’ll release an updated ‘Making of’ video of our new ‘Heroes and Foes’ album. In February we’ll also play live on the ‘Gluren bij de Buren’ festival again, this time in Gouda. And we’ll give more live concerts and livestreams. Keep an eye on our concerts pages for updates. Our next livestream concert will be quite interesting: more synths AND we’ll give a live improvisation show with live jams. In 2023 we also hope to release a new EP or one or more new singles. We wish you lots of inspiration and good music for 2023, and hopefully this year will be a better year, with more peace and less violence and poverty in Europe and the rest of the world.

Pim, Marcel & Petra.
